PENGARUH PEER EDUKASI BERBASIS APLIKASI ANDROID SIPACE TERHADAP KOMPETENSI PERAWAT PALIATIF DI RUANG ONKOLOGI RUMAH SAKIT PROF DR MARGONO SOEKARJO PURWOKERTO

Abstract

Background: The number of cancer patients is increasing, with a declining quality of life due to complex cancer therapies. This necessitates palliative care to improve their quality of life. Palliative care implementation has limitations, including a lack of palliative care knowledge, ineffective communication, and insufficient resources.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to develop the SIPACE application using research and development methods with validity and to determine the effect of peer education based on the SIPACE Android application on the clinical competence of palliative nurses in the Oncology Ward.

Methods: This study consisted of two stages. The first stage involved Research and Development (R&D) using the ADDIE method. The second stage was a quasi-experimental study.

Results: The first stage of the SIPACE application underwent a user acceptance test (UAT) process, measured using the content validity index (CVI) with a value of 0.95 and usefulness satisfaction (ease of use) with a value of 82.2%. The second stage used the Wilcoxon test in the intervention and control groups, with a p value of <0.05. The SIPACE Android application significantly improved the post-test competency (knowledge, attitudes, and clinical competency) of both the intervention and control groups through the Mann-Whitney test with p < 0.05.

Conclusion: The SIPACE Android application has been shown to improve the competency (knowledge, attitudes, and clinical competency) of palliative nurses
